(New Czech Song)
New Czech Song, mixed singing choir of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, from the beginning of its activity in 1990 regulary participates in the most significant choir festivals in the Czech republic, it successfully represented in many contests (absolute winner of national and international contest of chamber choirs in Choir Art Festival in Jihlava, leading-edge appreciation in Spanish Tolose, in German festivals in Mainhausen, Nidderau etc.). During its existence this choir held two dozens of concerts tour in many countries in western and central Europe and in the USA (e. g. in last few years it took part in prestigeous "Ryedale Festival" in England, "Europäischen Wochen Passau" in Germany, "Festival de Música del Maresme" in Spain). New Czech Song is invited to cooperate with proffesional orchestra (e. g. the cooperation in three for Czech audience breakthrough concert with Orquestra de Cambra Catalana from Barcelona), it worked up dramaturgically interesting concert programme (ortodox liturgical chorus, renaissance madrigals, extensive production of Zdeněk Lukáš etc.), it presented many of contemporary compositions. Up to this moment it has set out six individual CDs (publishing Clarton, Edit), it cooperated on several others.
Zdeněk Vimr
Zdeněk Vimr gives lessons at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and since 1994 is also the director of Pilsen opera, where he prepared more than 50 opera stagings and several individual choir concerts. He is often invited to juries in national and international choir contests, he is a member of preparatory committee of several choir festivals, he led many choir workshops, after the death of composer Zdeněk Lukáš he is administrator of his musical heritage.
